Before I started my career as a fashion designer, I loved to create art.
Now I create designs that are cotton fabrics. I love bringing together my fine arts background with my love for apparel design.
The fabric becomes a living weaving as it passes through the hands of the artisans. Each step of the way requires skilled workers who have fine-tuned their craft, passed down to them through the generations. Each artisan has a specialty.
One of the ways Turkey as a country expresses itself is through its rich and exquisite diversity of Textiles. It’s a blend of exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, magnificent colors and finest quality.
One of the techniques of creating beautiful textiles is the hand weawing. It is one of the oldest Turkish craft forms in which artisans use counter and cotton for creating intricate patterns on the cotton fabric.
Traditionally, this weaving style was used for products such as bath cloth, whereas now it has innovated and expanded its range to bed covers, curtains, washcloths and much more.
Traditional knowledge of craft skills is transferred from one generation to another and each master has its distinctive design elements, color schemes and motifs.
Living cultural treasures should always continue.
And I am continuing this traditional heritage. I'm so happy for that.
